Andrew Cummings

Andrew Cummings is a saxophonist, conductor, and music educator in the metro-Atlanta area.  During his ten-year career as a military musician with Navy Band Southeast and then the 572nd Air National Guard Band, Mr. Cummings performed professionally from Alaska to Cuba, often featured as a soloist. Performance tour highlights include the Krewe of Bacchus parade at Mardi Gras, river barge performances at Fiesta San Antonio, and a featured spot on Panamanian national television’s Tu Mañana morning show.  Well-versed in musical styles ranging from classical and jazz to pop, rock, and funk, he holds a Bachelor of Music degree in Saxophone Performance from Florida State University, where he also earned a Master of Music in Orchestral Conducting.  


It is Mr. Cummings's eighth year as the Orchestra Director at Milton High School, and he has fifteen years of experience in music education across public and private schools.  At FSU he served as Assistant Conductor for the University Symphony and Philharmonia Orchestras. He led performances with the FSU Chamber Players, New Music Ensemble, and Big Bend Community Orchestra.  Additionally, he was selected as a conducting fellow at the University of South Carolina’s esteemed Conductors Institute.


Mr. Cummings is an active member of the Georgia Music Educators Association and continues to teach and perform as a saxophonist, including orchestral roles with the Georgia Philharmonic.
