Saxophone - Robert Haley

Robert Haley believes that saxophonists deserve high quality instruction that is on par with the finest instrumental studios. The saxophonist should be a complete musician who can function in a variety of musical situations and not just play the latest social media craze. To that end, a comprehensive curriculum has been developed which includes the establishment of proper playing fundamentals, music reading ability, rhythmic understanding, knowledge of scales and arpeggios, and the promotion of artistic growth and musicianship. These concepts are introduced through the use of carefully chosen and sequenced study materials and solo literature, appropriate for every stage of development.

Robert Haley is the owner of Classic Winds and has offered private instruction to students of all levels since 1979. He is also a founder of the Metro Saxophone Symposium, the annual saxophone workshop for advancing saxophonists. Mr. Haley holds the bachelor and master of music degrees from the University of Georgia and has been instructor of saxophone at Georgia State University in Atlanta. Solo and chamber music performances have taken him all over the country, including a performance by special invitation of the legendary saxophonist Sigurd Rascher, at Rascher's last North American workshop at Yale University. Mr. Haley's students are routinely selected for positions in district Honor Bands, Georgia All-State bands, the Georgia Governor's Honors Program, and university bands in schools/departments of music across the country.
